About

I am a drummer, performer, and teacher from Germany, currently living in Taiwan. In my work, I am deeply engaged with improvisation and am mainly active in the fields of jazz, experimental music, free improvisation, and interdisciplinary performance contexts. I teach drums, improvisation, and percussion to teenagers and adults at my own studio in Taipei, at the Taipei European School, and in various private music schools.

I completed my studies, Master of Music in Improvising Artist and Bachelor of Music in Jazz Drums, in 2019 and 2015 in Germany at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and at the University of Music in Würzburg.
During my time in Würzburg, my contact with open-minded and interested students led me to start teaching. In Essen, I then increasingly came into contact with dance and theatre, which shaped my interest in interdisciplinary performance.

My jazz drum and improvisation lessons with Prof. Bill Elgart in Würzburg as well as my Alexander Technique lessons with Prof. Nadia Kevan in Essen were probably the most formative and groundbreaking experiences of my studies. A conscious approach to the self and a free and thriving understanding of the instrument – the drumset as one’s own voice.
Lessons with Thomas Rückert and Bastian Jütte as well as workshops with, among others, Gerald Cleaver, Gerry Hemingway, Michael Wollny, and Eric Schäfer shaped my understanding of jazz as a living, improvisational practice in a fundamental way.

Through my work as a musician and interdisciplinary performer, I mainly dedicate myself to my interest in the intersection of movement and sound. For me, every sound has a sense of inner movement, an intention in space, or exists as a body in itself. Likewise, I find a sonic emotion in every movement – in every release of energy, a sonic image emerges.
Through my drum and improvisation teaching, I aim to offer people access to their creativity, their own voice on the instrument, and an expansion of their expressive possibilities.
