Jazz Drum & Improvisation Lessons

I offer individual private lessons in jazz drums and improvisation for teenagers and adults from the age of 13 – from beginners to aspiring professionals. Lessons take place in my own studio in Taipei (Shilin District), in rented spaces in the Taipei area, or online. Teaching is available in both English and German.

At the centre of my teaching is music as a means of communication and self-expression – as well as the joy of playing and exploring. The aim is to develop or refine your own sound, your flow, and your personal expression.
The lessons are oriented towards your individual interests and goals and offer space for your project – from a playful introduction, through continuous development, to focused preparation for exams and performances. Influenced by my experience with the Alexander Technique and the Psycho-Physical Supporting Practice by Prof. Nadia Kevan, I place particular emphasis on a conscious and differentiated approach to body and instrument.

My pedagogical activity began in 2011 and includes around nine years of teaching experience at German music schools as well as in private lessons. Since 2024, I have been teaching in Taipei – in private settings, at English-speaking music schools, and at the Taipei European School, where I lead a percussion ensemble and teach jazz drums.

With my Bachelor of Music in Jazz Drums and my Master of Music as an Improvising Artist, both completed in Germany, as well as through lessons with professors such as Bill Elgart and Bastian Jütte and workshops with artists such as Gerald Cleaver, Gerry Hemingway, John Riley, and Michael Wollny, I bring a solid and at the same time vivid artistic background into my teaching – shaped by artistic practice, openness, and a continuous engagement with music as a form of expression.
